Workshop A1: International standardisation of candles: Valid tool to improve quality, safety of products all around the world

The scope of the workshop is to demonstrate the needs and the benefit to study and issue an  international recognized standardization for candles, that may covers: candle safety and their related accessories for indoor and outdoor use, information for the end users, international pictograms for   candles and uniform safety signs and warnings, performances, methods for air quality characterization, including emissions of candles and the introduction of a standard test method for the quantification of sooting. The workshop will present concrete examples of how a proposals for ISO International Standards can help to renew consumers’ confidence in terms of health and safety, now undermined by the global misinterpretation of inadequate technical documents which may affect and damage product’s reputation

04:00 PM – 04:45 PM: Presentation 3: “The Wick Clinic – finding cures for candle patients” by Steven West, Wedo When searching for wick solutions to burning problems, we are often reminded of a trip to the clinic where the doctor has to examine symptoms, diagnose health problems and suggest treatments. Our presentation seeks to “diagnose” burning problems and then discuss wick types and treatments available to provide a “cure” or at least alleviate the symptoms.
